However, please feel free to contact us direct to discuss a booking and your requirements. November 2018 Hot off the Press! Our CAMRA branch, Edinburgh & SE Scotland, has announced their winners and runners-up of the CAMRA Real Ale Quality Award 2018. We are so very proud to have been selected, not only as Borders winner in the Edinburgh & SE Scotland CAMRA Real Ale Quality Award 2018, but also as overall CAMRA Edinburgh & SE Scotland Branch winner. This award is based entirely on real ale quality scores submitted by CAMRA members who have sampled our ales since February 2018. A fantastic achievement for The Plough, but especially for David. A massive thank you to everyone who voted for us. Thank you too to our suppliers for producing top-class ales, especially the superb local breweries. We have also been nominated by our MP as Parliamentary Pub of Year for his constituency of Berwickshire, Roxburgh & Selkirk. We understand that is based on what we offer and work we do for the local community. October 2018 Our stonemason, John O’Kane, has completed Phase 3 of the restoration and repointing of the front of our gorgeous building. We’ve had loads of really positive comments about what a fantastic job John has done. This just leaves the garage end of the frontage for him to do in, hopefully, late Spring 2019! September 2018 Following a number of enquiries we have published our Christmas Menu. If you have a specific date in mind, and it’s a day we are usually closed, please discuss it with us as we may be able to open for you depending on the size of the party. For the third year running we have been included in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide. Thank you to all the CAMRA members who voted for us; it means so much to us. Our copy of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide 2019, along with 2017 & 2018 editions, is in the Bar - feel free to have a browse. July 2018 We now open at 5.30pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday with food service starting at 6pm. Takeaway fish and chips are available on Tuesday and Friday between 5.30-6.30pm. March 2018 Our fourth en-suite bedroom ‘Thomson’ is now available. ‘Thomson’ is a double room with a large ensuite shower room. Our first guests stayed in ‘Thomson’ at Easter and loved the room, our food and the whole feel of The Plough. February 2018 We are pleased to announce that from Thursday 1 February we have new menus. We have published the Menus - Lunchtime (Thu/Fri/Sat), Sunday Lunch, Evening and Children's - on both here, on our website, and on Facebook. We hope there’s something for everyone - let us know what you think. November 2017 Some new things are starting this month: The first is takeaway fish and chips will be available on Tuesdays and Fridays, 5.30- 6.30pm, from Tuesday 14 November. The second is, starting Tuesday 28 November, we are holding a ‘Soup Social’ between 12- 2pm on Tuesdays for three weeks (28Nov, 5Dec, 12 Dec). We’ll be offering soup and a sandwich, something sweet and tea or coffee on a ‘Pay As You Feel’ basis. Rather than sit at home, especially if you are on your own, pop along and enjoy our heat (the log burner will be fired up) and a bite and a blether, maybe play dominoes or cards. We may be able to organise transport. We are hopeful that this will prove popular and, if so, will start again in the New Year. Lastly work starts on our fourth en-suite bedroom. This room, which will be called  Thomson, will be a single and will be refurbished to the same standard as our other three bedrooms. We are hoping it will be ready at the beginning of March 2018.
